Mattel Inc. is the globe's big toy company according to revenue. It produces products including Barbie dolls, board games, and in the early 1980s, video game consoles. It was founded inside 1945 by Elliot Handler and Harold "Matt" Matson (hence the name "matt-el"). Elliott Handler's married woman Ruth Handler would later get president, & is credited using establishing a Barbie business line for the company around 1959.

History
A company originally produced picture frames & dollhouse accessories from either picture frame scraps. Using a profits of their dollhouse accessories, a company turned its attention to toys. A company became publicly owned inside 1960.

An independent audit of Mattel, freed in November 3, 1975, revealed that company officials had fabricated press releases and financial tools to "maintain the appearance of continued corporate growth." Around 1999, the ill-unadvised buy of a major software program publisher, TLC, for 4+ billions of dollars led to the CEO, Jill Barad, existence ousted (Watch Brøderbund.)

Within 1993, Mattel merged with a Fisher-Price toy company. Around 1996, Mattel purchased Tyco Toys which was a third big toy manufacturer at the instance.

Mattel serves when a parent company for American Girl (formerly Pleasant Company) and Fisher-Price. Presently, these are headquartered within El Segundo, California.
